Vilma Santos endorses Romulo Macalintal for senator

Batangas Representative Vilma Santos-Recto has endorsed veteran election lawyer Romulo Macalintal for senator in the upcoming midterm elections in May 2019.

Macalintal confirmed on Thursday that he will seek a Senate seat in next year’s polls.

She noted that the lawyer is a strong advocate of senior citizen’s rights.

”Ang mga senior citizens laging nakasuporta diyan si Atty. Mac. In fact sa Congress, noon nagcelebrate kami ng Elderly Week, Atty. Mac was there just to show iyong suporta niya sa mga senior citizens, dapat tuloy-tuloy lang iyon,” she told reporters in an ambush interview on Saturday.

(Atty. Mac has always supported the senior citizens. In fact, when we celebrated the Elderly Week in Congress, Atty. Mac was there to show support for the senior citizens. His advocacy should be continued.)

Meanwhile, Macalintal expressed his gratitude for to the Batangas lawmaker, who he said gives him more confidence in his first bid in the political arena. The rights of the senior citizens and persons with disability will be his primary advocacy. /ee
