Mocha: ‘Bosses wanted me to stay put’

Did outgoing Assistant Communications Secretary Mocha Uson resign or was she asked to step down?
“Hindi po,” Uson said when the question was asked during an interview with UNTV on Thursday.
(I was not asked to step down)
“Katulad nga ng sinabi ko kanina, sinabihan ako nila boss na stay put…” she added.
(I was told by the bosses to stay put).
Uson maintained her statement when pressed if her bosses still wanted her to stay even after the proposed budget of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) next year was already held hostage by some lawmakers.
“Hindi po dahil unang-una, ang kinagagalitan ng Pangulo e yung mga magnanakaw,” she said.
(I was not asked to step down. The President is angry at thieves)
“Wala po akong ninakaw sa gobyerno at kung meron man akong mga pagkakamali, siguro yung mga hindi ko napag-isipang ginagawa.”
(I did not steal from government. If ever I had mistakes, I have not thought of doing those things).
The resigned official then cited as example her viral video with her friend, blogger Drew Olivar, which allegedly mocked the sign language.
The two had already apologized for it.
“Hindi ko naman sinasadya na insultuhin yung may mga kapansanan. Hindi ko po intensyon yun dahil ako mismo ay may mga kamag-anak po, may mga pinsan po ako na may Down syndrome, persons with disabilities,” Uson said.
(I did not mean to insult persons with disabilities. I have relatives who have disabilities. I have a cousin with Down syndrome).
She said there are just some people who made a big fuss out of it.
At a hearing in the Senate on Wednesday, Uson announced her resignation, saying she was making a “sacrifice” so lawmakers, who are mad at her, would no longer delay the approval of the PCOO budget. /muf
