Suspected Ozamis robbery gangster killed in Cebu shootout

CEBU CITY – A still unidentified man was killed in a police shootout near Deca Homes 4, Barangay Bankal, Lapu-Lapu City, police said Thursday.

The victim was believed to be 40 years old, with medium built, and allegedly a member of the Ozamis robbery group.

Supt. Mark Gifter Sucalit, Lapu-Lapu City Intelligence Branch (CIB) chief, said intelligence personnel from Ozamis City coordinated with them after learning the whereabouts of the robbery group.

At about 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, police were in Barangay Bankal and were approaching a group of men having a drinking session when shots were fired at them.

The lawmen retaliated and one of the men was shot and killed. Two other men were able to escape.

The body has been brought to the Sure Life Funeral Homes in Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City. /cbb
