2 village officials shot to death in Zamboanga del Norte

PAGADIAN CITY – Two barangay councilmen were killed in two separate areas in Zamboanga del Norte on Monday.

Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, police regional information officer, said Nilo Dahili of Barangay Lomogom, Godod town was killed at 6:10 p.m. near his house while Jose Rey Baid Bongcawel was shot to death inside his house in Barangay San Isidro, Sergio Osmeña Sr. town at 6:30 p.m.

Godod police said Dahili Dahili was near his house when a blue Yamaha DT 125 motorcycle without a plate number appeared. The motorcycle back rider shot him three times in the head.

Witnesses said the attackers fled towards Leon Postigo in Zamboanga del Norte.

In Sergio Osmeña, eight unidentified armed men believed to be communist rebels entered Bongcawel’s house and fired at him, PO3 Reynante Bersales, Osmeña police investigator said./lb
