MANGALDAN, Pangasinan – A drug suspect detained at the Mangaldan police station was shot dead by his security escorts on their way back from the court where he submitted to inquest proceedings on Tuesday.

Klyd Doria Conde, who was charged for drug possession, and for concealing an unlicensed gun, allegedly grabbed the service pistol of a policeman from the back of the police vehicle, a police report says.

Conde and the police officer fought for control over the handgun, firing off several shots at the vehicle’s roof before the second policeman shot the suspect.

The policemen brought Conde to the Mapandan Community Hospital where physicians declared him dead on arrival. YOLANDA SOTELO
