Trillanes accosts soldiers near his house, but …

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV revealed on Tuesday accosting military men near his house in Antipolo City on Saturday night.

Without saying that they sent the men to follow Trillanes, Armed Forces chief Carlito Galvez Jr. admitted giving an order to ensure the safety of the senator.

At a Senate hearing, Trillanes asked Galvez about the men who had been tailing him and whom he said were “casing” his home.

He said they accosted the men who identified themselves as members of an intelligence unit of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

“Ano bang objective nun?” the senator said, talking to Galvez.

Galvez initially said that they would have to investigate it first, but noted they were aware of the threats to the senator’s life.

“Ang instruction din namin is to make sure na wala ding mangyayari sa inyo, sir,”

“Kasi if ever na there’s something na may mangyayari sa inyo, sa amin ibi-blame so that’s the main purpose,” he added.

For almost a month, the senator holed himself up in the Senate when the news broke that President Rodrigo Duterte issued Proclamation No. 572, revoking his amnesty and ordering him arrested.

Trillanes only went home last Saturday after a Makati court deferred the resolution on a non-bailable coup d’ etat case against him.

While in the Senate, the senator attempted once to leave the chamber but changed his mind after his vehicle, which went out to refuel, was allegedly followed by two men on board a motorcycle. /cbb
