3 dead, 2 hurt in Quezon road accidents
LUCENA CITY – Three motorists died and two others were injured in two vehicular accidents in Quezon province on Saturday, police reported Sunday.
Report from the Pagbilao town police station said truck driver Vicente Queño lost control of his ten-wheeler truck while negotiating a descending portion of the diversion road in Barangay (village) Silangang Malicboy at about 6 p.m.
The wayward truck hit another truck ahead of it and a parked tricycle before crashing into the barracks of the Department of Public Works and Highways. It then fell into a river 30 feet below.
Queño and truck helper Robin Montehermoso died on the spot.
Two other truck helper Vincent Capinan and Marvin Matarong were injured and taken to Quezon Medical Center in Lucena City.
Article continues after this advertisementIn Plaridel town, motorcyclist Connie Engalan was bumped by a Bicol-bound Raymond Trans. bus being driven by Noel Pasa while traversing the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Tumagay at about 11:50 p.m.
Engalan was taken to the Gumaca District Hospital but died along the way, a report from Quezon police headquarters said.
Pasa was detained at the Plaridel police jail. /cbb
