One more time: NCRPO files raps vs blogger
The police on Thursday refiled a criminal complaint against blogger Drew Olivar over a Facebook post he made about an alleged bombing plot targeting the Sept. 21 rallies commemorating the declaration of martial law. Officials from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) went to the Department of Justice (DOJ) and submitted the complaint against Olivar, which was earlier rejected by the DOJ on Tuesday due to insufficient documents. Olivar was accused of violating Presidential Decree No. 1727, or the Malicious Dissemination of False Information, in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act. The police noted that he had admitted at a press conference that he knew his information was false yet he still posted it. —TETCH TORRES-TUPAS
QC cops kill duo ‘left behind by pusher’
Two men were shot dead by the police in what was reported as an “encounter” in Payatas, Quezon City, before dawn on Wednesday. Both men remained unidentified, but the Quezon City Police District said they were the companions of a suspected drug peddler, Jose Guevarra, who left them behind as he managed to escape from an entrapment operation. A report to District Director Joselito Esquivel Jr. said a drug bust was set up against Guevarra, but he managed to drive off in a car before he could be accosted. —JHESSET O. ENANO AND CEDRIX PEREZ
