Duterte aware of Trillanes’ arrest order, posting of bail – Palace
President Rodrigo Duterte is aware of the recent developments regarding his staunch critic – Senator Antonio Trillanes IV.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said Mr. Duterte knows that an arrest warrant was issued against Trillanes and that it was served to the senator; and that the former mutineer was able to post bail for his temporary freedom.
“He is aware of what is happening,” Roque said in a radio dzMM interview on Tuesday.
Duterte was in Malacañang on Tuesday afternoon to witness the presentation of credentials of new ambassadors from Norway and Belarus, as Makati Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 150 issued a warrant of arrest against Trillanes for rebellion over the senator’s participation in the 2007 Manila Peninsula siege.
The Chief Executive, who earlier issued Proclamation No. 572 voiding the presidential amnesty of Trillanes, has not made any public statement since the serving of the arrest warrant against the senator around 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Senate.
Trillanes turned himself in to the police then secured his temporary freedom after posting a P200,000-bail before the Makati RTC.
Malacañang has welcomed the Makati RTC’s issuance of an arrest warrant against Trillanes.
