Bam Aquino: Issues on poverty, inflation sidelined by Trillanes arrest

Senator Bam Aquino on Tuesday said the Duterte administration has prioritized serving an arrest warrant against Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV over the more important issues on poverty and inflation.

“Kahirapan at taas-presyo ang kalaban, hindi ang oposisyon. Taumbayan ang nakakalimutan habang pinipilit na patahimikin si Sen. Trillanes at iba pang kritiko ng gobyerno,” Aquino said in a statement.

(Poverty and high prices of commodities are the enemy, not the opposition. The Filipino people are being sidelined as the government focuses more on silencing the critics of the administration.)

“Habang nag-aaway away, ang mga pangunahing isyu ng taumbayan ang nababalewala’t naiiwan (While there is infighting, the issues concerning the people most are being ignored),” he added.

Trillanes surrendered to authorities after the Makati City Regional Trial Court Branch 150 ordered his arrest for rebellion during the 2007 Manila Peninsula siege.
