Pro-Duterte blogger Drew Olivar is in hot water again, this time for publicizing a supposed “bomb scare” as people were set to stage demonstrations Friday to remember the 46th anniversary of the martial law declaration.
Olivar said in his initial Facebook post that it would be scary to stage a rally in Edsa as he claimed of rumors that the bombing at Plaza Miranda might happen again.
“Ay nakakatakot naman magrally sa Edsa, kasi may kumakalat na baka maulit daw ‘yung pagbomba kagaya ng Plaza Miranda! Kung ako sa inyo hindi na ako pupunta!” he said in a Facebook post early Friday.
(Oh, it’s scary to stage rallies in Edsa because there were rumors that the Plaza Miranda bombing could happen again! If I were you, I won’t go!)
Later, he screen-grabbed his own post and re-posted it with the caption, slamming his critics for making an issue about something which he claimed was not a bomb joke because it was based on what he allegedly saw on social media warning about the likely repeat of the Plaza Miranda bombing.
“Ngayon, anong issue kung mag-iingat ako at nagiging concern lang ako? Grabe, grabe (Now, what is the issue if I will only be careful or I am just concerned? It’s too much, it’s too much),” he said.
National Capital Region Police Office Director Guillermo Eleazar meanwhile advised the public to not believe bomb threats on social media.
He said he has already directed district directors to supervise the patrol operations along Edsa.
“Again, we assure the public that your police force is always ready to serve and protect you,” Eleazar said in a statement.
To recall, Olivar first received flak over his “pepedederalismo” video with Presidential Communication Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson. Just this week, Olivar and Uson again drew criticisms for posting a clip on social media which seemed to mock the sign language that especially offended deaf people and advocates. /kga
