Cordova school gets new classroom

An elementary school in Cordova town was the recipient of a 51-sqm classroom donated by the employees and officers of Metropolitan Cebu Water District.

The cash collection of P105,000 was used to build the classroom for Bangbang Elementary School.

Cordova Association of Barangay Councils president Celedonio Sitoy, Schools District Supervisor Liza Maningo, Bangbang barangay captain Samuel Sumagang, school principal Raquel Solis and one of the elementary pupils accepted the ceremonial key from MCWD general manager Armando Paredes during the turnover ceremony last Oct. 27.

Paredes said the newly built classroom is the first concrete project from the personal contribution of the water district employees and managers.

The construction of the classroom started in August.

The school officials thanked those who helped realize the project.

Bangbang Elementary School has more than 800 pupils who share 11 classrooms.  Other pupils have to attend classes under a tree, in tents or on their school stage.
