LOOK: Google pays tribute to Josefa Llanes Escoda on her 120th birthday

Google on Wednesday celebrated the 120th birthday of Josefa Llanes Escoda, the founder of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines with a tribute doodle.

Aside from founding the Girl Scouts of the Philippines, Escoda was also known for being a social worker and an advocate for women’s suffrage.

In the Google doodle, Escoda could be seen exploring with girl scouts and wearing a shawl similar to the iconic Girl Scout scarf.

Escoda was a strong advocate for female suffrage and she worked tirelessly to make sure voting rights were extended to all Filipino citizens.

She founded the Boy’s Town in Manila for underprivileged youth in 1937 and the Girl Scouts of the Philippines in 1940.

Clicking on the doodle on Google’s homepage would provide internet users  with more information about the life and works of Escoda.  /muf
