Suspect in 9 rape cases back in jail after Pasay arrest
A jail escapee who was facing nine rape complaints and several other criminal charges was recaptured in Pasay City on Tuesday.
A joint operation by the Southern and Northern police districts and the Highway Patrol Group tracked down Albert Biol, 43, as he was working at a construction site in Barangay 183.
Police said Biol started using the alias “Daniel Mercado Morres” after escaping from his isolation cell at Caloocan City jail in February.
The suspect has six rape cases pending against him in the Caloocan prosecutor’s office, and three more in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan province.
The SPD said he was also ordered arrested by the Caloocan court for homicide, two counts of robbery, car theft and illegal possession of firearms.
The homicide victim was a resident of Bankers Village, Caloocan North, whose home Bial allegedly tried to rob in December 2014.
Investigators said Biol had an accomplice, identified only as Boy, and they posed as “balut” vendors or electric meter readers to look for potential robbery or rape victims in Caloocan and Bulacan.
They would knock on doors and, once given an opening, force their way in.
In her statement to the police, Biol’s wife had described the suspect as a “sex addict.” —Dexter Cabalza
