Today, Sept. 20, is the 87th birthday of National Scientist Dolores A. Ramirez.
She studied agriculture at the University of the Philippines Los Baños where she graduated magna cum laude.
She went on to complete her masters and doctorate at the University of Minnesota and Purdue University, respectively.
An eminent geneticist, she produced works that promoted the development of genetics in the Philippines.
