DID YOU KNOW: PH civil service system was set up in 1900
The civil service system in the Philippines was formally established on Sept. 19, 1900 under Public Law No. 5 through the creation of the Civil Service Board. It was reorganized into a bureau in 1905.
In 1959, Republic Act No. 2260 or the Civil Service Law was enacted.
The act converted the bureau into the Civil Service Commission (CSC).

In 1975, Presidential Decree No. 807 redefined the role of the commission as the central personnel agency of the government.
