Pacquiao is new chair of Senate ethics committee
Sen. Manny Pacquiao was elected chair of the Senate Committee on Ethics on Tuesday.
“With the permission of the body, we move to elect Sen. Manny Pacquiao as chairman of the Committee on Ethics,” Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri said during the Senate session.
With no objections, Senate President Vicente Sotto III then approved the motion.
The Ethics committee has authority over all matters relating to the conduct, rights, privileges, safety, dignity, integrity and reputation of the Senate and its members.
Sotto was the chair of the committee during Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III’s time as Senate president.
Zubiri moved to elect Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian as a new member of the committee. /ee /atm
