Malacañang on Wednesday said it is confident that Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go can defend himself in the impending Senate investigation on the government projects allegedly ‘cornered’ by his relatives.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque also stressed that Malacañang won’t meddle in the legislative probe.
“That’s a resolution that should be acted upon by the Senate. We cannot interfere with it. But I’m sure SAP Bong Go can very well defend himself,” Roque said in a Palace briefing.
This came after Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, one of President Duterte’s arch-critics, filed a Senate resolution directing the Senate committee on civil service, which he chairs, to conduct an inquiry on the ossible “conflict of interest arising from government contracts obtained by kin of government employees and/or officials.”
Trillanes, citing a Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism’s (PCIJ) report, singled out government contracts that were allegedly cornered by CLTG Builders and Alfrego Builders and Supplies, which are owned by Go’s father and step-brother, respectively.

Go earlier denied involvement in the alleged contracts, adding that the PCIJ report made him a “victim of fake news and biased reporting.” /ee
