After Comelec moves COC filing, House to focus on priority legislative bills

The House of Representatives can now focus on President Rodrigo Duterte’s legislative agenda after the Commission on Elections (Comelec) heeded Congress’ request to move the filing of candidacy for the 2019 polls, House Majority Leader Rolando Andaya Jr. said on Wednesday.

“We, in the House of Representatives, commend the Comelec for acceding to our request for the re-scheduling of the COC (certificate of candidacy) filing period,” Andaya said.

“Now, we can buckle down to work and focus on deliberating the priority legislative measures of the President without the distractions of electoral campaign,” he added.

The Comelec announced the rescheduling of the filing of COC  for the 2019 national and local elections from Oct. 1 to 5 to October 11 to 17.
