TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol – An inmate of the Bohol District Jail (BDJ) in Tagbilaran City was allegedly caught with several sachets of illegal drugs inside his cell on Wednesday morning.

During the greyhound operation past 7 a.m., nine small sachets of shabu were found tucked in the waist of Mark Genesis Segovia, 22, a resident of Sandingan Island in Loon town, said Jail Officer 3 Nimrod Vito.

Segovia had been detained since 2016 because of his alleged involvement in illegal drug activities.

Vito said Segovia was now being investigated and might face additional drug charges.

Vito said keeping the jail free of drugs was a challenge, even if all visitors underwent a thorough inspection.

Like all jail facilities in the country, the BDJ is congested with 936 inmates cramped inside 25 cells. The facility was built to accommodate only 400 inmates.
