Senator Antonio Trillanes IV is thankful for the support he gets from his fellow senators at the height of Malacañang’s revocation of his amnesty given to him by the previous administration, his lawyer said on Tuesday.

Atty. Reynaldo Robles said Trillanes expressed gratitude to his fellow senators and Senate President Vicente Sotto III for giving him the leeway and understanding on the issue he is embroiled right now.

“Napakahirap po nitong nangyari sa kanya, inaaresto siyang pilit na walang warrant, na labag sa Constitution,” Robles said in a press briefing.

“Sa kabutihang palad, under the leadership of Senate President Sotto, and of course the rest of the senators have been all supportive despite of the differences,” he added.

Trillanes has been staying at his office in the Senate since President Rodrigo Duterte announced the revocation of his amnesty early last week.

With this, Trillanes asked the Supreme Court to nullify Duterte’s Proclamation No. 572 and stop its implementation through a temporary restraining order.

But the high court, in a recent ruling, denied the senator’s request for a restraining order and gave the lower court the leeway to rule on the matter.

Despite this, the camp of Trillanes said that the decision of the SC could have been worse, citing it was “one of the best outcomes” they could hope for.
