At least 25 members of a breakaway group of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) and their accomplices have been charged for the bombing at Isulan, Sultan Kudarat last August, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director General Oscar Albayalde said.
“The Special Investigation Task Group investigating the August 28, 2018 bombing incident in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat […] has identified and charged 25 members of a breakaway faction of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighter (BIFF) and several accomplices for the crime,” Albayalde said during a press briefing on Monday.
Isulan was bombed on two separate occasions in a span of a week, first on August 28 and again on September 2, 2018, leaving four people dead and more than 40 others injured.

According to Albayalde, they have supplied the information to the proper authorities.
“An information was filed over the weekend before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor of Sultan Kudarat against the suspects,” he said.
In a previous report, a spokesperson for the BIFF, which has ties to the extremist Islamic State, claimed that his group was not involved in the attack.
“We have nothing to do with it, we don’t attack civilians,” Abu Misry Mama said in a phone interview. /vvp
