Barber killed in Ecija drug bust; another suspect arrested

SAN JOSE CITY – A 36 year-old barber was killed in an alleged encounter with a lawman during a Saturday night drug bust in Barangay (village) Abar First here, police said.

Jefferson Panganiban, a widower, reportedly fired at an undercover policeman to whom he sold a sachet of shabu (crystal meth) at 12:15 p.m., and was killed when the police officer retaliated.

Forensic investigators recovered a pouch containing three sachets of shabu and a loaded handgun.

Earlier at 10 p.m. in Lupao town, Benito Jose Flores, 34, was arrested after he sold a sachet of shabu to a policeman. /je
