Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV said on Saturday that his friendship with presidential spokesperson Harry Roque ended when the latter joined the “dark side.”

“Simula noong sumama siya sa dark side, palagay ko nagkasaulian na ng kandila doon eh (Since he joined the dark side, I think we have already surrendered candles), Trillanes said in a press briefing.

Roque earlier said he continued to treat Trillanes as a “very good friend,” even as the senator continued to criticize President Rodrigo Duterte.

But for Trillanes, Roque’s status had been “lowered” to a mere acquaintance since becaming the President’s ally.

“Siguro we can be civil, pero wala eh. Sa akin, he has thrown away the principles… Siguro acquaintance. Siguro bumaba ng ilan levels,” he said.

Trillanes also said he would want a review of Roque’s bar exam results and that of other government lawyers backing his arrest to know if they really passed the bar.

“Abogado rin itong si Secretary Roque eh. Siguro kailangan reviewhin din kung talagang nakapasa nga itong mga ito sa bar,” he said.

[Secretary Roque is also a lawyer. Maybe we also need to review if they indeed passed the bar.] /atm
