Bong Go tells priest who wants Duterte to be sick: ‘Patawarin sana ng Panginoon’

Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go said he hopes God would forgive the priest who joked during his homily that he prayed for President Rodrigo Duterte to be sick.

“Patawarin sana ang pari ng Panginoon (May God forgive the priest),” Go said in a message sent to reporters.

Father Noel Gatchalian cracked the joke during the Mass held outside Senator Antonio Trillanes IV’s office in the Senate.

“Noon pong marami nang kaguluhan ang nangyayari, na winawalanghiya pati ang ating relihiyon, binabastos pati ang ating Diyos, sinasabi ng ating Simbahan na magdasal. Sabi ko o sige magdasal, kaya pinagdasal ko na magkasakit si Digong,” Gatchalian said in jest.

(When there is a lot of chaos and our religion is lambasted, even our God is being perverted, our Church tells us to pray. I said okay I’ll pray, so I prayed that Digong [President Rodrigo Duterte] will be sick.)

“‘Di ba sabi niya pagod na siya? Eh di magpahinga muna siya (Didn’t he said he is tired? Then let him rest),” the priest added.

Trillanes has been staying at his office in the Senate since Tuesday after Duterte ordered his arrest.

Duterte ordered the revocation of the senator’s amnesty granted to him in 2010.

Trillanes’ charges were based on his involvement in the 2003 Oakwood mutiny and the 2007 Manila Peninsula siege against former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.   /vvp
