Duterte appoints former DOTr Undersecretary Cesar Chavez to BCDA

President Rodrigo Duterte appointed former Transportation Undersecretary Cesar Chavez to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) Board of Directors.

Duterte signed Chavez’ appointment on August 31 and was sent to Palace reporters on Thursday.

Chavez resigned as Department of Transportation (DOTr) Undersecretary last November 2017 following the series of technical glitches that hit the Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT-3).

“I’m tendering my irrevocable resignation. Hindi pwedeng lagi tayong naninisi sa nakaraan dahil sa responsibilidad na natin ito,” Chavez said in a press briefing.

In a letter addressed to President through Transport Secretary Arthur Tugade dated November 23,  Chavez said  “simple sense of delicadeza”  gave him no choice but to resign.   /vvp
