Masbate police officers-nurses help woman give birth

Three police officers from the Masbate 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company were lauded by netizens recently for an inspiring and heroic act.

The police officers, namely PO2 Dave Espinosa, PO1 Elmer Bryan Lista and PO1 Aldrin Añonuevo, came to the aid of Lorna Padaylap, who was on the verge of giving birth. The police officers came to help her after heeding a call from a concerned citizen.

Photos of their deed were shared on Facebook by the Mpmfc ComAct (Masbate Province Mobile Force Company Community Action Team) on Sept. 3.

According to MPMFC’s post, the three officers were in the launching of the “Sama-samang langat ang Kabikolan na Ayaw sa Droga” (SIKAD) at the Masbate Provincial Police Office when someone called Espinosa to ask for help.

Tumawag ang isang concerned citizen kay PO2 Dave Espinosa na humihingi ng tulong para sa manganganak nang si Mrs. Lorna A. Padaylap na nakatira sa Brgy. Ibingay, Masbate City,” wrote MPMFC.

(A concerned citizen called up PO2 Dave Espinosa, asking for help about Mrs. Lorna A. Padaylap who is about to give birth and residing at Brgy. Ibingay, Masbate City.)

Agad namang nagresponde ang tropa ng Masbate 1st PMFC sa pangunguna ni PO2 ESPINOSA kasama pa ang dalawang registered nurse na sina PO1 Elmer Bryan O. Lista at PO1 Aldrin Añonuevo.”

Espinosa, Lista and Añonuevo, who were all registered nurses, rushed to the aid of Padaylap. As per the post, the three helped Padaylap in delivering her baby and brought the mother and child to the hospital, after she gave birth at around 10 a.m.

In some of the pictures posted by the MPMFC, the police officers can be seen assisting Padaylap inside a police vehicle so they can take them to the hospital. In another photo, Padaylap can be seen having arrived in the Masbate Provincial Hospital and lying down on a stretcher.

People have since commended the three police officers for their quick action, expressing their pride for the team.

“Nice one buddy!!” wrote a certain Robert Mapang on MPMFC’s post. “Kahit saan ang pagiging nurse natin (We are nurses wherever we are). Proud of you bro.”

Some called for the three police officers to keep up the good job. “These are the new breed of policemen. Keep it up,” wrote one Faith-Nilo Jr. Veloso. “God bless your dedication to your job!”

MPMPC, in response to the cheers, wrote, “Bawat tao ay may misyon sa buhay, isa na rito ang paggawa ng kabutihan sa iyong kapwa.”
