Solicitor General Jose Calida on Tuesday said that Magdalo Representative Gary Alejano’s apprehension that he could be the next target after Senator Antonio Trillanes IV is just a “figment of his imagination.”
Alejano and Trillanes were both accused in a coup d’ etat case before a Makati court, and both were granted amnesty by the previous administration. However, the amnesty given to Trillanes was revoked by President Rodrigo Duterte.

Like Trillanes, Alejano is also a critic of the current President.
“Kung nagawa nila sa kanya, magagawa din sa akin (If they can do that to him, they can also do that to me),” he said, referring to Trillanes.

“He knows what’s happening. Maybe, that’s just a figment of his imagination,” Calida told reporters.
Calida, however, refused to disclose if other reviews are being conducted on other amnesties granted by the previous administration.
“I invoke privileged communication between client and counsel,” Calida repeatedly told reporters.
But Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra noted that he has no knowledge of any such review.
“The proclamation only covers him [Trillanes]. I believe others who might be similarly situated are also being reviewed…Since there is a review ongoing, others might be included,” Guevarra said. /ee
