Lapu-Lapu urban poor leader among exemplary service awardees

TEN urban poor leaders nationwide will receive an exemplary service award as the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) celebrates its 25th anniversary on Dec. 8.

The anniversary’s theme is, “25 years of exemplary service: United and helping the urban poor.”

Two of the awardees are from Cebu and Tacloban.

They are Concordio Austero of the Ibabao Marigondon Urban Poor Association in barangay Marigondon, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu and Danilo Naputo of the Brgy. 103 Palanog Homeowners Association Inc. in barangay 103, Tacloban City.

The other awardees are from the National Capital Region, Mindanao and Luzon areas.

The award acknowledges the exemplary contribution and good deeds of the urban poor leaders in uplifting the sectors’ lives and dignity.

Nominees were endorsed by the urban poor organizations.  They were chosen according to the service they rendered to the urban poor sector.

President Benigno Aquino III will give the award on Dec. 9 at the Heroes Hall of Malacañang Palace.
