Davao police on full alert status after Sultan Kudarat blast

DAVAO CITY — The Philippine National Police in Region 11  placed all police units on full alert status on Sunday night after another bomb went off  in Isulan town, Sultan Kudarat that killed an 18-year old boy and wounded seven individuals.

Police Chief Superintendent Marcelo Morales has ordered all police units in the city to strengthen  security measures, according to Police Chief Inspector Milgrace Driz, spokesperson of Police Regional Office 11.

Driz said all units are likewise ordered to intensify intelligence monitoring and closely coordinate with other law enforcement agencies.

The full alert status is still in effect within the PRO 11’s area of responsibility, she added.

On Sunday night, unidentified men set off an improvised bomb just outside the Prince internet café along Valdez Street in Barangay Kalawag 2 in Isulan town at 7:28 p.m., only days after an explosion in a row of stores along the national highway here killed three and wounded 36 others.

Brigadier General Cirilito Sobejana, Commander of Army’s 6th Infantry Division declared Isulan town on lockdown after the explosion.

“Presently, we declared the Isulan town on lock down. We believed the suspect is within the area and we subject all suspepcted areas for zoning,” Sobejana said. /ee
