Motorcycle rider dies in Maharlika Highway road accident

LUCENA CITY – A motorcycle rider died in a tragic road accident along the Maharlika Highway here early Sunday.

Report from Quezon police said the victim, Gerardo Almendral, 44, was traversing the highway towards the city center aboard his motorcycle when he accidentally crashed into concrete road barriers near the eco-tourism rotunda in Barangay (village) Isabang around 2 a.m.

The victim was thrown off from the motorcycle and landed on the highway but was consequently run over and dragged several meters away by an incoming six-wheeler truck. The victim sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot.

Report said the victim possibly missed the barriers as the accident site had no street lights. /je
