2 dead, 4 fall in anti-drugs operations in Southern Mindanao

DAVAO CITY – Two people were killed and four others arrested in several anti-illegal drugs operations in Southern Mindanao on Wednesday.

Abraham Jimlani, 40, was killed when he fired at policemen during a buy-bust operation in Ilang village, Bunawan district in Davao City at 9:50 p.m., Chief Insp. Milgrace Driz, Southern Mindanao police spokesperson, said on Friday.

In Digos City, lawmen gunned down Rene Lumen, the city’s top drug personality, after “an armed confrontation” with them.

The lawmen were out to conduct a search in his premises in Barangay Tres de Mayo shortly before 10 p.m.

Driz said Lumen was also the alleged leader of the Eng-eng gang engaged in drug dealing, robbery, and gun-running in Digos.

Recovered from the slain Jimlani was a caliber .22 revolver with three rounds of ammunition, a sachet of suspected shabu (crystal meth) and P1,000 marked money.

Police in Digos, meanwhile, recovered a caliber .45 pistol, a magazine with six rounds of ammunition and five sachets of alleged shabu.

In Davao Oriental, police arrested student Edilberto Sablas, 18, for selling P100 worth of marijuana to an undercover cop in Luzon village, Governor Generoso town, around 10 p.m., Driz said.

In Mati City, police and anti-drugs enforcers arrested Reynaldo Mangulayon, 41, and Jevic Tagabunlang, 33, after a buy-bust operation in Barangay Mayo at past 10 p.m.

Seized from the two were five sachets of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia.

Earlier, police in Asuncion town, Davao del Norte arrested laborer Rommel Boiser, 33, of Cabaywa village, for selling shabu to undercover agents, Driz said.
