Cavite drug suspect dead in buy-bust

SAN PEDRO CITY – An illegal drug suspect was killed in a buy-bust operation in Trece Martires City in Cavite province on Friday morning.

A report from the regional police says the suspect, identified only by his alias “Dante,” was the subject of a police operation in Barangay (village) San Agustin around 1 a.m.

The suspect allegedly drew out a .38-caliber gun and fired twice at the undercover policemen. The authorities shot back and hit him.

The suspect was taken to the General Emilio Aguinaldo Memorial Hospital but was declared dead.

Elsewhere in Cavite, the police arrested 40 people in various anti-drug operations between Thursday evening to early Friday, provincial police director Sr. Supt. William Segun said.

Among those arrested were seven men, who police and village watchmen caught on the street while allegedly having a pot session in Barangay Paradahan 2 in Tanza town past midnight.

Authorities recovered three sachets of suspected marijuana from the suspects. MARICAR CINCO
