NBI now working to locate girl in viral ‘Kiki Dance Challenge’

The National Bureau of Investigation’s (NBI) Cybercrime Division and its Digital Forensics office have started the process of identifying and locating the girl in the now-viral “Kiki Dance Challenge” video along Edsa.

“We will use the full force of the NBI to establish the identify and locate the girl in the video,” NBI spokesperson and Deputy Director lawyer Ferdinand Lavin said when he spoke to Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) spokesperson Celine Pialago.

Lavin said he had instructed the NBI’s Cybercrime Division and Digital Forensics office to start the procedure.

The girl in the video, a certain Micha Anne Gabuten, uploaded the video on August 28. It was deleted, however, when it went viral. Her social media accounts have also been deactivated.

Pialago said they are also reviewing the CCTV footage in the area where she did the challenge and to identify the vehicle as well.

MMDA sought the NBI’s help to locate Gabuten and her companions so they can be properly summoned and asked to explain their actions. /ee
