The revolt against the Spaniards led by Francisco Dagohoy in Bohol province came to an end. In 1744, Dagohoy established the rebellion’s headquarters in the mountains between the towns of Inabanga and Talibon, and proclaimed there the independence of Bohol. Residents who were disgusted by the injustices committed by the Spaniards joined Dagohoy. The uprising ran for 85 years and fought 20 Spanish governor generals to maintain Bohol’s independence from Spanish rule. This made the Dagohoy Revolt the longest in Philippine history.
