An anti-corruption agency official said on Saturday that newly appointed Chief Justice Teresita de Castro “is the most qualified jurist that has ever stepped foot at the Supreme Court.”
“CJ De Castro is the most qualified and experienced jurist that ever walked the hallowed halls of the Supreme Court,” said Manuelito Luna, commissioner and spokesperson of the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC).
“The country will benefit immensely from her long judicial experience and good heart,” he said in a statement.
“The PACC family wishes her the best,” Luna said.

Luna earlier reportedly sought the ouster of then Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno through an impeachment complaint, which was dismissed by Congress.
He also reportedly urged the Office of the Solicitor General to file a quo warranto petition against Sereno. Sereno was later ousted from the post through this petition.
In 2012, he was also among the lawyers who filed a complaint against Sereno, former President Benigno Aquino III, and Judicial and Bar Council officials over Sereno’s appointment as Chief Justice. /jpv
