Bongbong: Critics should see bid to abolish PCGG as cue to ‘move on’

Answering questions on the issue of his father’s strongman rule, former senator Bongbong Marcos said that the proposed abolition of the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) is proof that their critics should “move on.”
Marcos was explaining to reporters during a forum in Quezon City on Friday the reason behind the comments of her sister, Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos who asked people to move on from the issues that have hounded their family.
In the process, the former lawmaker said: “PCGG has been abolished, ano pa ang gagawin natin dito?”
A check on the status of the PCGG shows the agency created 35 years ago remains to be a government entity. According to previous reports, there is a proposal in the House of Representatives to abolish the agency but it has not been enacted yet.
As of May 15, the bill has passed the third and final reading in the House.
Senate was also adamant that it would not follow the House’s footsteps. If House Bill No. 7376 is made into law, the functions of PCGG would be then transferred to the Office of the Solicitor General.

Earlier, Marcos said that her sister may be frustrated with the seemingly endless repetition of the same questions, which should have been a finished topic since the government already filed cases and came up with decisions.
“The frustration is that you know, you were asked this question over and over again [but] it is decided. The government fell, the cases against us were filed, the cases came with a decision that’s conclusive,” he added.
