Calayan island rocked by 3-magnitude tremblor

TUGUEGARAO CITY— A 3-magnitude earthquake rocked the coast of Calayan island in Cagayan at 2:11 a.m. on Friday.

According to government seismologists, the quake happened barely three days after a 5-magnitude temblor rocked the same town.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) has reported in its website that the quake’s epicenter was recorded 10 kilometers southwest of Calayan.

Measured at a depth of 23 kilometers and of tectonic origin, the quake has no recorded aftershocks as of posting.

No damages and casualties were reported following the quake according to the Cagayan police and disaster risk reduction and management officials.
