DID YOU KNOW: The National Assembly of the Katipunan

/ 05:05 AM August 24, 2018

On August 24, 1896, Andres Bonifacio convened the National Assembly of the Katipunan in Melchora Aquino’s barn at Barrio Banlat, then part of Caloocan.

Gathered were members of the Katipunan’s Supreme Council, as well as the heads of the supra-municipal and chapter units.

By virtue of elections held by the council, the Katipunan was transformed from a secret society into a revolutionary government. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
