Legarda hopes BOL gives more meaning to Eid’l Adha celebration

Senator Loren Legarda on Monday said she is hopeful that the celebration of Eid’l Adha or the Feast of the Sacrifice will be more meaningful for Filipino Muslims now that the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) has been signed into law.

“With the Bangsamoro Organic Law, we look forward to better social and economic opportunities for Filipino Muslims. I hope that the objectives of the law can be effectively realized and may it bring about genuine peace and lasting security in the region and the whole nation,” Legarda said in a statement as she wished all Muslims a meaningful celebration.

Legarda, author of Republic Act No. 9849, An Act Declaring Eid’l Adha a National Holiday, also encouraged everyone, regardless of religious belief, to join in the celebration of Eid’l Adha.

“I greet all our Muslim brothers and sisters as they celebrate Eid’l Adha. I hope that all Filipinos, regardless of religion or belief, can also reflect on the lessons that this feast signifies,” Legarda said.

Eid’l Adha commemorates Ibrahim’s willingness to obey Allah even to the extent of sacrificing his son. The Muslims see Ibrahim’s act as a demonstration of unswerving devotion to Allah.
