Voting on shortlist for Chief Justice post reset to August 24
The seven-member Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) has reset the voting on the shortlist for the position of Chief Justice to Friday, August 24.
This was confirmed by Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra, a member of the JBC, in a text message to reporters on Monday, August 20.
Guevarra said the reset was made to give JBC members more time to review all the documents submitted by Chief Justice aspirants.
“Voting on CJ shortlist reset to August 24 to have more time to review all the documents submitted, particularly the statements of assets, liabilities and net worth,” the Justice chief said.
The voting on the shortlist was originally set on Monday, August 20.
Five candidates have applied for the highest post in the judiciary: Supreme Court Associate Justices Lucas Bersamin, Teresita Leonardo-De Castro, Diosdado Peralta, RTC Judge Virginia Tejano-Ang and SC Associate Justice Andres Reyes.
