Pickpocket nabbed near Mandaluyong mall
An alleged pickpocket was arrested after the security guard of a shopping mall in Mandaluyong City caught him stealing on Saturday.
In a report, the Mandaluyong Central Police Station said the suspect, identified as Paul Perez, 23, of #48 Dr. Pilar St. Brgy. Kapasigan, Pasig City, was nabbed by a security guard of a shopping mall along Edsa in Brgy. Wack-Wack, Mandaluyong City around 11:40 a.m.
The victim, Don Don Dimaculangan, 20, a student from Brgy. Bawi, Padre Garcia Batangas, told the police that while he was walking near the shopping mall, Perez discreetly opened his backpack and took his mobile phone worth P6,000 and coin purse containing P2,600.
The mall’s security officer, Jay Galan of Red Eye Security Agency, noticed the incident and immediately arrested the suspect that led to the recovery of the stolen gadget.
The victim’s coin purse, however, was not retrieved, police said.
A case of theft is now being prepared by the Mandaluyong Police. /je
