Members of the Marikina City Police on Friday launched its cleanup operation in the aftermath of recent flooding spawned by the southwest monsoon or “habagat.”
The local government has evacuated over 14,000 persons and 3,000 families in the city last Tuesday after the Marikina River was raised to third alarm as it rose to 20.6 meters last Sunday.
Most of the evacuees have since returned home after the flooding subsided.
Photos from the Marikina City Police show officers cleaning tons of garbage after the flooding.
