The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said that a total of P21.06 million worth of assistance has already been provided to Filipinos affected by floods brought about by habagat or enhanced southwest monsoon.
In a statement, the agency said that as of 6 a.m. on Tuesday, it has already sent P14.57 million worth of aid to affected families while P6.49 million worth of assistance has been provided to affected local government units (LGU).
The agency called on the public to stay alert and report their situation to authorities as a new low pressure area is expected to bring more rains to a huge portion of Luzon.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that the heavy monsoon rains affected a total of 691,574 individuals from the 469 barangays across Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

The DSWD, acting as the lead agency in camp coordination and camp management, said that 253 evacuation centers set up by LGUs remain open in Regions I, II, Calabarzon, Metro Manila, and CAR. These centers are providing temporary shelter to 22,648 families or 102,315 individuals.
Social workers have been assigned to visit and conduct needs assessment in evacuation centers to ensure the welfare and protection of evacuees.
The DSWD said it remains on heightened alert status and is continuously coordinating and monitoring the situation in affected cities and municipalities through its field offices for significant reports and updates. /ee
