NDRRMC: 691,574 people in Luzon affected by habagat
The storm-enhanced southwest monsoon or habagat affected a total of 691,574 individuals from the 469 barangays across Luzon, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) report showed on Tuesday.
According to the NDRRMC, as of 6 a.m., a total of 154,671 families coming from the National Capital Region (NCR), Regions I, III, IV-A, and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) were affected by heavy rains brought about by habagat.
Out of the said number, 22,648 families were seeking shelter in the evacuation centers while 14,229 families remained outside the designated centers.
Despite this, the NDRRMC noted that the 36,877 families have received support from the government during the three-day bad weather condition in the country.
Report also showed that the agency has monitored 36 incidents related to the threat of the southwest monsoon in CAR, Region II, and Region 4A.
Article continues after this advertisementThe local government units and the Department of Social Welfare and Development has provided a total of cost of assistance worth P14,685,597.24 to Regions I, III, CAR, and NCR.
The NCR received a total of P12,809,529 worth of assistance, with P11,420,380 of that would be allotted for Marikina City. /jpv
