The number of stranded passengers spiked to more than 900 on Tuesday, the Philippine Coast Guard monitored.
The PCG said that as of 4 a.m., 952 individuals were stranded in different ports in the country due inclement weather.
In its breakdown, the PCG noted that majority of the stranded were at the Cebu port with 635 affected sea travelers.
It is followed by ports in the Bicol region with 148 individuals, 113 in Northern Luzon, and 56 in Batangas.
Travelers were stranded after the PCG stopped 36 motorbancas and five vessels from sailing due to bad weather and unfavorable sea conditions.
The weather bureau saod sea conditions in the northern and western sections of Luzon would be rough to very rough with waves reaching heights from 2.6 to 4.5 meters.
Wind direction is southwest with a force of strong to gale. /cbb
