President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday said he has been monitoring the flood situation in Metro Manila and nearby provinces during the weekend.
Duterte apologized for his “delay” during the oath-taking of newly appointed government officials in Malacanang on Monday afternoon.
“You just have to give us some allowances for our delay. You know I have been monitoring the situation since the other night. Medyo kulang kami ng tulog,” he said.
The hashtag #NasaanAngPangulo trended on Twitter over the weekend after netizens asked the whereabouts of the President as the rains dumped by “habagat” caused flooding in most areas in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
Duterte was supposed to conduct an aerial inspection of flood-hit areas on Sunday but was canceled due to the bad weather.
He was again scheduled to do the inspection on Monday afternoon but was again canceled. /vvp
