Sara Duterte quashes anew rumors of 2019 Senate bid

For the nth time on Monday, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio reiterated that she would not seek a Senate seat.

This even after her regional political group, Hugpong ng Pagbabago, forged an alliance with various political groups in a gathering held in Parañaque City.

“Hindi po ako tatakbong senador…(I am not running for the Senate),” Duterte-Carpio said, noting that many have already been calling her ‘senator.’

“I’m not running for the Senate. We’re just really trying to unite everybody who wants to help the administration of Preside Duterte until 2022,” she added.

Among those spotted in the gathering were Senator Cynthia Villar of the Nacionalista Party, Former First Lady Imelda Marcos and daughter, Ilocos Governor Imee Marcos, and Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista. /ee
