SAN PEDRO CITY — A man accused of breaking into a warehouse was shot dead after allegedly attacking a responding police officer in this city on Sunday.
Supt. Giovannie Martinez, the police chief here, said the incident happened around 4 a.m. in a private warehouse in Barangay San Antonio. The police have not identified the slain suspect.
In a text message, Martinez said the police received a report that three robbers broke into a warehouse that stores various imported goods.
When the police arrived, two of the suspects have already fled, but one of them allegedly attacked a policeman with a knife. The policeman reportedly stepped back and shot the suspect in defense.
Martinez said the police brought the wounded suspect to the Amante Hospital, also in this city, but he died hours later. /ee
