Imee jokes she might resurrect dad’s KBL party

DIGOS CITY—Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos is considering the idea of reviving the defunct Kilusang Bagong Lipunan (KBL), the political party of her father, the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos. She joked she might even rename it to Hugpong Amihanan (Aggrupation of the North).

“Perhaps we will revive the antiquated political party, the KBL, or we will create a new one under another name. We will call it the Northern Aggrupation,” the governor said in Malita town, on the sidelines of the mass oathtaking of new members of Hugpong ng Pagbabago, the regional political party headed by the President’s daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, in Davao Occidental.

She later said she was just joking. “What I was saying, the ‘Solid North’ now is a force to be reckoned with, although we started small … but when we started to unite and to speak in one voice, we started to be regarded differently,” she said.—ELDIE AGUIRRE
